The Millennial Aesthetic Takeover

The millennial aesthetic; coordinating the colors and décor of your high-priced downtown apartment with pastel pink, white, beige, and grey. Reducing the clutter on counter tops by storing things in woven baskets and replacing it with succulents and plants. Hanging macrame on your walls, creating an iced coffee bar with all the fix-ins, and you’ll never not be lighting a calm scented three-wick candle. I specifically noticed this trend influencing businesses in the hair product industry. In the last five years, KMS hair’s distinct product lines were distinguished with different neon colors. Now, their base colors for their bottles are all grey with hints of those previous coordinating colors. My mother, of the baby boomer generation, is quite frustrated with KMS’s new millennial aesthetic change to their products, and says she doesn't get it. She misses being able to find her lime green bottle amongst her many other products with a quick look. Just like any other trend, once time passes, this popular aesthetic will fade away. However, as of right now, I am going to enjoy the clean, fresh ambience, my specialty coffee with a slice of avocado toast, and “plant mom” lifestyle of the millennial aesthetic.
