A glimpse into your future as an entrepreneur; It’s 8 o’clock on a Friday evening, the sun has gone down and the takeout coffee you picked up at 6 o’clock is now chill. The only light in the room is a tall corner lamp, and you still have piles upon piles of paperwork to review. You think to yourself, "Am I ever going to have some time away from work?" This is what your entrepreneurial evenings and weekends will resemble forever more.
WRONG!
In reality, your entrepreneurial experience will look like however you want it to. Whether that’s starting work before the birds begin to chirp or taking the afternoon off to cheer on your child at their very first, middle school basketball game! There is a toxic, workaholic, “all work, no play” stigma regarding entrepreneurship, which needs to be ceased. Now, I’m not shying away from the fact that entrepreneurs are some of the most driven businesspeople out there. Their persevering work ethic and their ability to take risks for something they believe in is incredibly admirable and contributes to the overall success of our society. We need entrepreneurs! I view an entrepreneur as an imaginative, sharp-witted, determined businessperson who has a clever concept and enjoys putting in the work (and extra work) to make this concept a successful reality. While still appreciating some perks of a flexible work week, like taking an extra hour at lunch to catch up with distant friend, but coming back to work fully revived and ready to make your creative concept a success.
